It has been a hectic month or so for me, as is well and truly reflected in the content (or lack there of) on my lil’ old blog. A lot has gone on since I last posted here, I’ve been up to loads… and things have majorly changed in my life, but more on that in a separate post. For now, let’s do what British people do best, let’s talk about the weather. Because it, is, HOT. Today was the hottest June day in the UK for 41 years (fun fact). We didn’t quite make that record here in Manchester but it is still a deserving topic to discuss, because what are we supposed to wear?
So the heat has struck, and I think it is now safe to say that it is well and truly summer. Yaaaaaaas. In fact, Happy Summer Solstice! Anyway, if you’re anything like me, this will be bringing many stresses with it. All you have is transitional summer and ‘British Summertime’ pieces, making sure that you’re prepared for the standard weather we expect. Not really the best for this 30 degree heat is it? Not that I’m complaining! One summer trend I have bought into so far this year is crochet, transitional though it may be, it’s perfect and versatile for the heat in the UK. This gorgeous cropped top is super lightweight crochet, and all open for those breezes to do their thang. You know?
You know the game for us English gals though, no matter the forecast, you need some form of a security blanket. An umbrella, a sweatshirt, a jacket, or even just a sleeve… JUST in case. You never know when the gales and showers are going to strike. Now obviously a bit of crochet sleeve isn’t going to protect you through wind rain and fire, but I do love that there’s a a bit of a sleeve on this piece to prevent you looking TOO optimistic. You don’t want to be that person that strips bare as soon as it its 20. That’s why I love this one.
