I know, I know. I’m a fashion blogger, not a beauty blogger. BUT, we all love a bit of make-up don’t we? And with so many make-up tutorials and sponsored posts etc etc out there, I thought I’d throw out my own personal obsessions when it comes to beauty circa 2017. I use most of these products on a daily basis simply because they all do a fab job of making me feel (/look) better. Real Talk.
First up is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit. I’m a big fan of the highlighter in general, and this is my everyday go-to. You can definitely get great highlights on the high street, but if you’re thinking of splashing out a lil’ bit, I would definitely recommend this. ‘Summer’ is my most used, but the two bronze shades are fab for summer time or super glam looks too. It’s honestly one of my top 5 make-up items, and now that I’ve had it, I think I’d struggle without it!
Next up is another luxury rather than a ‘must-have’, but it really does make a difference. You don’t HAVE to use primer, and some people have such lovely skin that this would actually be a waste on them. But for me, I need all the help I can get in making my makeup look flawless, and this YSL Touch Eclat baby hits the spot. You can see in the picture above that it’s glitter-infused, so as well as smoothing your base and blurring pores, it adds a bit of glow and shimmer ‘from within’ when you apply your foundation. Again, as I said, it’s not a must-have, but if you’re looking to invest in a primer, I’d highly recommend this.
Who could ever write a beauty favourites post without featuring an Urban Decay Palette? No one. I’ve always been a huge pusher of the Naked 3, I had to have it as soon as it came out as the tones were just perfect for me, and I’ve been repping it ever since. But when I started seeing this Ultimate Basics palette knocking around on Instagram towards the end of last year, I had to have it. I love the Naked 3, but I always found myself going for the same matte shades on a daily basis, so this palette, being all matte shades, was just perfect for me. I’ve not stopped using it since I received this at Christmas. The pigmentation is so strong, and the colours are super-blendable (standard eyeshadow descriptions I know, but it’s true!). It has the perfect neutral shades and a few stronger pigments to create a some more dramatic looks when you want to. There’s not a bad word to say about this one, definitely worth the hype.
Here’s one I never thought I’d see on my blog. I love a fancy perfume as much as the next girl, but never thought of myself as a Jo Malone kinda girl. I always saw it as a bit over-hyped and over-priced for my liking, and all about the branding. But things have changed now. I gave in at the start of this year and tried the Mimosa and Cardamom Cologne after smelling a tester and being blown away. I’m not being dramatic either, you know when you get a little tester card and can’t even bear to throw it away because it smells so god-damn good? Anyway, I still think it’s pricey but really, it’s not much different to my other go-to scents from Prada and YSL, so I guess it was worth the hype, as it’s definitely a scent that makes me feel ‘done up’. Does that make sense? You know what I mean.
Some of you will probably think I’m a weirdo for putting this one in. But over the last few months I honestly wouldn’t have been able to cope without these. I’ve actually just ran out and I’m in desperate need of replacing them. I don’t know about you, but I find I have really sensitive eyes in general, so working in an office in front of a computer screen all day everyday, and then coming home and blogging at my laptop, is really taking it’s toll on my poor little eyes. I find that they get really dry and tired, and these eyedrops are so soothing, which is just what they need. I put them in every morning and night, and anytime in between if I feel the need. One of life’s great necessities I think in today’s screen based world. Look after your eyes people!
This has quickly become a cult favourite in the beauty world, with half the colours being sold out every time I go to pick one up. If you’ve ever used one, which is 90% likely, then you will know why. I probably own every nude shade available in these Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creme’s, and I could honestly go the rest of my life not wearing anything else. I think these initially blew up as a dupe for Kylie Lip Kits, which is understandable, as this is one of the only matte formulas I’ve tried that don’t dry my lips out or go crusty (nice image, I know). The formula is so smooth and lightweight, and the best thing about it is that it does’t feel like it’s dried to a matte finish, even though it does look completely matte. I am starting to think about cracking out some lip glosses for summer, but I know that these will never be far from my routine. This is 100% my go-to lip.
The last product I want to mention is the Nip & Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser, which is a product that I accidentally fell in love with. I am a huge Liz Earle advocate and I love every skincare product I’ve tried of hers, so a couple of months back when I ran out of my beloved Liz Earle Moisturiser and the Boots that I went to didn’t stock Liz Earle, it was panic stations. I saw the Kale Fix moisturiser, and like a naive consumer I was attracted to the colour being that of Liz Earle. I’ve also heard pretty good things on the grape vine over the past year or so about Nip & Fab, so I thought I’d give it a go. I can honestly say that this is the best moisturiser I have ever used. Genuinely. The level of softness that my skin has after using this is on another level to anything I have ever experienced before on my own face, and I highly recommend everyone tries this out. You’re welcome in advance for that one, I think it’s such an under hyped product and a bit of a hidden gem in the beauty world.
