My Coat Collection

Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons for three reasons…The coats, the jackets, and more coats. I just love a good coat, they have the power to pull even the sloppiest outfit together and bring all of those cosy chic vibes. I don’t have a massive coat collection, but because I do love wearing them all so much, it is an item that I am happy to invest in and like to invest in a new one ever winter to add my collection, with the intention of keeping them for years and years, if not forever. With all of that in mind and considering we are in peak coat styling season, I thought I’d put together a post showcasing my top 5 winter coats in my collection that I’ve been gravitating to most this year to keep me warm and cosy but also make me feel good.

Neutral Faux Shearling Jacket- Mango – On Sale Here

This is the newest one in my collection, and it was a present from Luke for Christmas ’21. I absolutely love it as the perfect winter jacket that is super cosy whilst being a real classic winter staple. It looks great layered up over knitwear, hoodies or even for with much less underneath it for an evening out. I love the retro vibe it has to it with the whole sherpa feel, and the neutral tone just makes it so versatile and wearable throughout my wardrobe. You might be able to tell from my instagram that I’ve been reaching for this more often than not since I got it, serial outfit repeater (and proud!) over here. It’s super sleek and cosy but also not too heavy so I hope it will be quite transitional for me through Spring and Autumn as well as just coming out for the depths of winter.

One of my all time faves here. I’ve had this beauty for a few years now, it’s made from recycled wool which feels great, and has a slouchy dropped shoulder fit which looks great for the more androgynous vibe which I love. Overall it is a really luxurious feeling coat, the fabric really has some weight to it and definitely keeps the cold out when it’s wrapped around you. Again this another super versatile piece, great for when I want to feel a bit smarter and more put together, for work or maybe an evening out, but then it also looks great over a tracksuit. I can’t fault this one at all. It has really deep pockets too which I love and makes it all the cosier. A really good coat to invest in if you want something that will last the test of time, both in quality and style.

Green Longline Padded Coat- Monki- Available in different colours here

Probably my most-worn item in my wardrobe these days. I’ve had this for a few years now, I bought it before a trip to Edinburgh at the start of 2020 (before the world exploded), as I knew it was going to be freezing, and the rest is history. I wear this all the time for walking Winnie as it’s honestly like being wrapped in a duvet, and who doesn’t want that on a cold January morning dog-walk? It’s padded with synthetic fibres, so no down, but it still super cosy and has big fleece-lined pockets to add to that which is just wonderful on those bitterly cold days to keep your hands toasty.

Orange Boucle Double-Breasted Coat- Topshop

I think this might be the oldest coat in the post, I got this way back in 2016/17, around then, from a physical Topshop store- RIP. I have worn this year on year, and is probably my most complemented coat, more often than not I will get asked where it’s from if I wear it, which is always lovely! I’m obsessed with the colour pop that this coat brings to my, otherwise relatively neutral, collection.

Black Cord Borg Lined Jacket- Topshop

Another trip down memory lane to the Topshop store. Again I have had this for years now, andI remember seven it in store wanted for AGES before I finally bit the Bullet and bought it. And man am I glad I did. I’ve had so much wear out of this one, it’s so thick and warm, and I just love the oversized slouchy vibe it has to it. The textured cord is what sold it to me n the first place, I think it’s just so cool and something that will never not fit into my wardrobe.

So there we have my top 5 winter coats. I was originally planning to rank them all, but I don’t know how I could ever choose my absolute favourite! And there are so many others I have on my wish list for future winters, fingers crossed they can be mine one day! Which is your favourite out of the 5?
