January in review

January has finally come to an end! Hoorah! The month that everyone seems to hate the most is over at last. Even as a January baby, I totally understand why January gets such a bad rep. It’s cold, it’s dark, it’s long, and it is one giant trough after the peaks of joy of the festive season. But, as gloomy as it can seem, January is a great time to set goals and start a fresh for the year, making sure that the focus is all on the positivity. So on that note, I’ve put together my monthly diary re-cap post of the month of January, and it’s not that bad! First up, it’s New Year’s, which truly seems like a lifetime ago at this point, but it was this month! We had a super relaxed New Years, which in all honestly is my favourite kind. Food, drinks and board games with friends at home, what more could you want?

After New Years, we were blessed with some beautiful clear blue skies and winter sunshine, which is my favourite kind of weather for sure. So we made the most of it and went for a stunning hike with views over Manchester. It was such a refreshing way to start off the month, and really helped clear my head and start the year on a real positive note.

For my birthday at the start of the month, Luke and I headed over to Yorkshire for an overnight stay at a Woodland spa retreat. It’s not something we’ve ever done before, so it was honestly such a lovely relaxing escape, and definitely a lovely way to spend my birthday. We headed up there in the afternoon, went for a very rainy woodland walk, and then headed the spa to chill before our massages- which were divine. Then we headed back to our room and got ready to go for dinner and drinks. It was exactly what I needed.

One thing that has really come through this month is the skies. Just look, look! at this incredible baby pink and blue morning sky that I woke to one morning earlier this month. That paired with the beautiful dusting of snow is just stunning.

Another snippet of some of the beautiful winter sunlight that has drenched us this January. It really is the little things like this that make January more bearable when it’s a struggle to see past the doom and gloom. Winter light is a beautiful thing.

The weekend just gone a group of friends headed to the one of the Escape Rooms in Manchester, which is something I’ve never done before. It was fun! Really difficult actually, but fun!

I got a Dyson Airwrap over Christmas, so I’ve spent a lot of January trying to master it. I really love using it, but definitely haven’t mastered the art of the Airwrap yet. My hair is naturally straight and sleek, so the curls seem to drop out within the hour, even after prepping the hair with mousse and blow dry spray, and pinning and setting it. I’m hoping I will find a way to make it stick sooner rather than later! If you have any tips- please share!

And what would a monthly review be without a multitude of sunrise/ sunset shots? I just can’t help myself. Overall, it was quite a hard month for various reasons, but there were lots of moments of light, and I’m really focusing on that this year. How was your January?
