We all follow a billion cool girls on instagram (excessively exaggerating there but, I’m trying to make a point). You know the ones, they look effortlessly cool in a way that most of us would look like an awkward sack of potatoes. I feel like it’s definitely all filtered down from the Yeezy phenomena, and I love the aesthetic of it all. The leggings, or cycling shorts if you’re brave, matching lycra bra top or oversized sweatshirt, teamed with perspective heels/ killer Louis V boots, and a kick ass designer bag on your arm and a puffer coat hanging off your body. That’s the cool girl look. The instagram baddie.
I for one am not living a life where that kinda outfit fits in with my day-to-day. And I know, I know, I should be wearing what I want to wear and not care what anyone thinks. BUT as much as I love that cool gal yeezy vibe, I’m just not that cool, it’s not me, and I wouldn’t be comfortable in that outfit. If you’re anything like me, you still want to run with the trend, especially now when it means ultimate comfort, I mean YES to leggings being socially acceptable again, I’m so onboard with that. Then I thought I would put together a more wearable version of the instagram-baddie look.
I think it’s important when it comes to trends to not just buy into them for the sake of it. If you’re going to rock something, you need to be comfortable, and it needs to be you. No-one wants to see every girl dressed the same, how bloody boring would life (and the internet!) be? We need to express our own vibe and personality through the way we dress, that’s one of the most important aspects of fashion. If you feel good, and you’re really channeling you, then that confidence will always shine through to everyone else in the room. And you will probably always notice that that is when you will get the most compliments.
I don’t think I need to say much more about it, I’m sure you get the jist of it. You can see the outfit and what I’ve done to make the ‘insta-cool’ trend my own, and something I’m comfortable in, and I urge you all to do the same. Let me know what trends you are putting your own spin on.
