Catching Up

Wow, it’s been a minute hasn’t it. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’ve had to put the blog firmly on the back burner for the past couple of months, and it’s something that’s been constantly on my mind to get back into it. Every weekend I’ve said to myself “I’ll write a blog post today”, or “I’ll get back on the blog tomorrow”, but then before you know it, it’s Sunday night again and I’m watching I’m A Celeb and ready to get in bed.

I’m not just being lazy I promise, we have been constantly on-the-go lately, which is quite a weird thing to say when we’re actually in lockdown and can’t go anyway or do anything. But we moved house! Yep, you may have seen on my Instagram back in October that Luke and I finally got the keys to our first house! Buying this house is something that Luke and I have been trying to do for the past few years (quite unsuccessfully in the most part), and saving up for a looongg old time. So it definitely feels like a bit of a dream come true to finally be in our own home after years of renting. That being said, it’s an old house that needed fully redecorating, so that is basically all we’ve both been doing since we moved in- as well as both working full time too, it’s been a lot! With that shiny beacon of hope that is Christmas looming, we wanted to try and make this place feel like home for the festivities- even if that ends up just being the two of us in this shit-show of a year!

As I write this we’ve done probably 80% of the decorating, but downstairs is very nearly finished and definitely feeling very homely (except the huge pile of boxes next to me in the kitchen where a sofa should be, but it’s fine *deep breath*. It’s mainly fun stuff and finishing touches left down here now… getting artwork and prints up on the walls, putting shelves up and styling them, waiting for a few furniture deliveries etc etc. That being said I’m making the plunge back on the blog in the hope that I will start to have the time for it on the regular again now- I’ve really missed it!

Once the house is looking how we want it, I definitely want to share some home-y posts over here, but if you want to have a nosy for now and see what we’ve up to, feel free to follow us @madeinthe1930s on IG. I’m actually loving instagram again now that I’ve been immersed into the world of house accounts, it’s so much fun and feels like such a community, where I feel the fashion IG scene is very different nowadays.

Speaking of fashion, these shots were taken back in our city dweller days- that feel so nostalgic already! I’m still absolutely in love with this jacket, there really isn’t much more I love for autumn than a check jacket or oversized coat. Nothing better. It’s just a shame I’ve had pretty much zero opportunity to wear this and have been living in paint-covered joggers and sweatshirts for the past two months. Oh, the glamour.
