BEAUTY | Mascaras that you need in your life

Today I’m venturing, ever so slightly,  out of my comfort zone, and writing a full blown beauty post. I find reading blogger’s beauty product reviews and comparisons extremely interesting to read myself. That’s simply down to the honesty that comes through in blog posts, in comparison to our traditional magazine reviews that, lets be honest, we can’t always trust. And I know what you’re thinking, how can you really know whether to trust a blogger? Well, you can’t. Plain and simple. HOWEVER, if you’re anything like me, over time you develop a sense of knowing-ness for the blogs that you read religiously, and so there we have your own judgement call, already made up.

Anyway enough babbling from me, lets just jump straight in at the deep end and show you my personal top 4 mascaras. ( I know conventionally you might see a lot of ‘top 5’ posts, but frankly, I don’t have 5 amazing mascaras, I only have 4, and I aint about conforming to happy numbers).

Numero Uno…

First up is my all time favourite which I’ve used for YEARS now.. L’oreal volume million lashes. I knew ever since I saw Eva Longoria in the ad back in yester-year, I knew this one would be a keeper. And here it is! It has a bendy (but not too bendy) brush so you can wiggle to your hearts content, and the brush is just everything you could possibly want from a mascara. It actually spreads the lashes evenly(why is that so hard to find in a mascara?!), and I swear it NEVER clumps. To be honest I use the brush of this mascara to spread my lashes evenly after using other mascaras which just don’t quite get it right, because this one always does.

L’oreal Volume Million Lashes: £10.99

On to a new one of mine now, with the bareMinerals ‘LASH DOMINATION’, which basically does what it says on the tin box. This product claims 10-in-1 Lash Benefits: Volumizes, Lengthens, Thickens, Seperates, Lifts, All-day wear, Mineral Fortified, Smudge Resistant, Resist Clumps, Fights Flakes. Annnnnd breathe…  that’s a long list! Apart from the smudge resistant part- as I haven’t really tried and tested that to it’s full extent- I completely agree with the claims it makes. I also love the packaging, both the box and mascara, with the brush being unique too. The head of the brush spirals like a twister lolly so really works in terms of keeping lashes seperate when applying. It’s actually on offer at the moment over at, so if you fancy giving it a whirl, do it now!

bareMinerals LASH DOMINATION: RRP £16

Third on my list is the MAC Zoom Lash in ‘extreme black’ I started using this a month or two ago, and I’ve got to say, it lasts forever! Well, you know, in comparison to most mascaras where they noticeably dry up after not that long. Even though they’re still wearable for quite a while, it’s refreshing to use a mascara that is still, after 2 whole months, like new when i pull the brush out, with lots of product swimming around in there obviously. This is a great mascara if lengthening is what you’re looking for.

Mac Zoom Lash: £14

The final lash licker to make my favourites list is the Barry M Lash Vegas. I was super excited to try this one out when I first got it, as it contains little black fibres to really add that bit of extra summin’ summin’ to your lashes, which is something I hadn’t tried before. However, I’m not a great fan of the brush at all, It’s pretty stumpy and looks kind of.. old. BUT I think that’s just because the actual formula of the mascara is so full and textured due to the fibres. I also find it takes more work to apply this one, probably because of the brush, there is a lot of wiggling required. However, if you power through that, you can be sure to have some great looking lashes.

Barry M Lash Vegas: £6.49
